The mission of the research group Nanotechnology on Surfaces is to develop advanced fuctionalisation processes at the nanoscale to get new functionalities for materials, particularly in the case of oxide, polymers, and hybrid organic/inorganic thin films. The development of new fundamental science and the transfer of the technical achivements to the industry are the two main objectives of our work. The research activities of our group are focussed in the nanoscale manipulation and modification of the surface of materials for advanced applications. Our main efforts are devoted to tailor the properties (optical, electrical, biocompatibility, etc.) of thin films and the surface of materials by careful control of their micro/nanostructure, composition, in-depth and lateral distribution. Applications of this activity connect with the following technological fields:

Optical and photonic surfaces and thin films
Bioactive and biocompatible surfaces
Photonic sensors
Modification of aesthetic appearence and other functional properties (e.g., hydrophilicity) of surfaces

We participate in research projects (national and european funded), as well as in industrial projects (INDO S.A:, Valeo S.A., Torrecid, Maier, Cosentino S.A, Hynergreen, Abengoa-Solar, SOS Cuetara, Air Products, ...)
